1.Introduction to San Diego State University

San Diego State UniversitySDSU), founded in 1897, is located in the north of San Diego, the seventh largest city in the United States, which covers an area of 304 acres. SDSU is an all-round developed comprehensive public university, and a global learning community and an ideal place for international education. It is the oldest, most authoritative, and largest university in the San Diego and the fifth largest university in California. Due to the large size, diversity, and academic reputation, it has become one of the top leading universities in the United States. The Association of International Education and the U.S. Department of Education and Cultural Affairs have jointly nominated SDSU as one of the 6 best international higher education institutions in the United States.

It has also been named as one of the best public universities in the United States by U. S. News and World Report for many years. In 2013, Business Insider magazine ranked SDSU as the ninth most memorable university in the United States.

SDSU has more than 35, 000 full-time students, including more than 1, 500 international students from 90 different countries, and 6, 400 faculty members. SDSU has 7 faculties of liberal arts, business management, education, engineering, health and human services, vocational and art, science. Undergraduate education and other auxiliary centers, providing education with bachelor's degrees in 91 fields, master's degrees in 78 fields and doctoral degrees in 22 fields.

SDSU is the largest biotechnology research center in the United States, bringing together the densest biotechnology companies in the world, and its scientific research capacity ranks 7th in the United States. With its high level of scientific research activities, SDSU has been designated as a "research university" by the Carnegie Foundation. The business school of SDSU is one of the top five business schools in the US and is a member of the AACSB, the highest accreditation body for international business schools. The Accounting Institiute of SDSU is one of the four institutes certified by the Professional Association of Accountants and its master's degree in accounting is one of the only two certified degrees in the same professional degree in California. SDSU’s School of education was awarded the leadership and Innovation Award by the association of American State Universities and Colleges. The American language Institute in SDSU is the largest faculty in the United States that uses English as a second language. Moreover, SDSU has the largest library in the California State University system.

2.Cooperation content and plan

The corporation of Zhejiang University City College and San Diego State University will mainly be carried out in the following three aspects:

1Study Visiting Program of F1 Visa

DSU is open to undergraduate and graduate students in all majors and grades in SDSU Cooperative Schools. Students can study at SDSU for 1-2 semesters, with 12 undergraduate or 9 master credits per semester, but require your English level reach TOEFL 80 or IELTS 6. 5

Related costs

Admission application: $175. This fee is non-refundable as long as you submit the application materials.

Tuition and insurance: English and American Culture courses: $6770 / semester; University credit courses: $7365 /semester (undergraduate students can take 12 credits and graduate students can take 9 credits). You need to pay it before being admitted by SDSU, successfully obtaining a visa to travel to the US, and arrive at SDSU. The tuition will be slightly different depending on your major.

Student activity cost: $1000. Pay it together with tuition and insurance.

Family accommodation (including breakfast and dinner): $3950. Pay it together with tuition and insurance.

2Four Weeks English and American Culture Course for F1 Visa

The course opens to all students from SDSU Cooperative Schools’, with no major, grades or English test requirements. This project is characterized by excellent cost performance. Students can fully integrate into the study and life of American university classes and American families, which is of great help to the improvement of language and the understanding of American education and American culture. Every 15 students can be provided with a free room and board place for the leader teacher to take part in local activities.

Fee standard (spring 2017 admission):

Admission application: $175

Student information processing fee: $450

Tuition and insurance: $1620

Family accommodation (including breakfast and dinner/day): $1, 150

The total cost is $3395(about 22000RMB), visa fees, overseas accident insurance, international round-trip air tickets and other personal expenses are not included.

3J1 Visa US Professional Internship Program

This program is only available to students majoring in tourism and hotel management from SDSU Cooperative Schools, after going to the United States, you will be trained in SDSU for two weeks, and then you will go to a company for a paid internship for 6-12 months.

There is no test requirement for students in English, but the actual communication level should be good enough and there should be an interview. The companies where students practice in and post are quite good and have rotational post.

Program cost (refer to going to the United States in March 2017)

Application fee: $300. This fee needs to be paid at the time of registration.

Program fee: $6500 for 6 months and $7500 for 12 months. Pay it within one week of successfully obtaining a visa to the United States. The cost of the project includes: pick-up fee on arrival, training fee and accommodation fee during SDSU, medical insurance premium, project management fee. The cost of the project does not include: meals during the training, visa fees, air tickets, accommodation during the internship and personal expenses.

Students will have the following gains during their stay in the United States:

Training at San Diego State University

Before the internship, the students will have a two-week full-time professional intensive training in SDSU. The training contents are as follows:

Hotel English, 36 class hours.

American culture and American workplace analysis, 12 class hours.

Gold customer service or catering and beverage service qualification, 12 class hours.

Internship in an enterprise

Job positions: hotel front desk, catering service, cooking, customer service, leisure and entertainment service, room service, sales, and banquet service. Rotation will be arranged during the internship.

Working hours: 35-40 hours per week.

Salary: $9. 00 to $12. 00 per hour, depending on the position. (salary will depend on internship location and position).

Work location: five-star hotel or resort in the United States

Project certificate

Project completion certificate and course study report from San Diego State University School of Tourism and Hospitality Management.

Internship certificate issued by the internship enterprise.

There may also be a gold Service certificate from the American Restaurant Association or an American Catering and Liquor Service Certificate, depending on the content of each training session.
